Kim Salerno has lived in Newport, RI with her husband and daughter for 18 years. She moved here from New Haven, CT, after living and working in Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago. For the past 15 years she has volunteered for the City of Newport Planning Board, and the Historic District Commission. She is a member of the Newport Art Museum, the Newport Historical Society and the Redwood Library, and serves on property committees for the museum and society.
Kim is the owner and principal of Haven Designers, an architectural design firm. A lifelong learner and teacher, she taught at the college level for over twenty years including the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Rhode Island for ten years. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Smith College, a Certificate in Painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. Kim's daughter, Deirdre Irvine, is entering her senior year of college and her husband, Steven Irvine, is a professor of Biology at URI.
